Section R502.11 of the 2024 International Residential Code (IRC) includes new floor framing requirements and prescriptive solutions to ensure that lateral loads applied to the guards are adequately resisted. The new prescriptive solutions provided in the new code provision are limited to dimensional lumber. This Code Summary Report provides prescriptive solutions for metal plate connected floor trusses that satisfy these new code requirements.
