The Truss Placement Diagram (TPD) is an illustration identifying the assumed location of each Truss. It is typically prepared by the Truss Manufacturer and is part of the Truss Submittal Package. Sometimes the Truss Manufacturer is requested to place an engineering stamp on the Truss Placement Diagram. In this research report, we will discuss the responsibilities of the Building Designer (engineer of record), Truss Manufacturer, and Truss Designer; and what is required to be included in a Truss Submittal Package as defined in the International Building Code (IBC) and the referenced National Design Standard for Metal Plate Connected Wood Truss Construction, ANSI/TPI 1 (TPI 1).
